LAW OF MOSES VS GOD’S COMMANDMENTS
PASTOR KEN SIMMONS
Good morning Saints! Don’t get the Law of Moses confused with the Law of God! God allowed “add-ons” because of the cold hearts of man but the 10 commandments of God are to stand for eternity. Jesus says: “"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” Matthew 5:17 ESV. Jesus upholds the law while fulfilling them. Jesus also realized that a Perfect God gave a perfect law to an imperfect people. Things were added to the Ten Commandments so it could be easier to follow. Jesus says: “He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.” Matthew 19:8 ESV. The 10 commandments are still relevant today. We know this because Jesus was asked this question: “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:36-40 ESV. Just know the Laws of Moses will fade but the 10 Commandments are everlasting! PASTOR KEN SIMMONS
